Newport: We love you for your charm and history. But let’s be real—options beyond dinner and drinks are limited, especially in the winter months. If you're looking for a different experience, let us introduce you to Paradigm Escape Room, an LGBTQ+ and women-owned business that brings a truly unique experience to a typical night out.
We recently visited Paradigm, conveniently located off Broadway and Memorial, and spoke with owner Deanna Lopes who we met through our work with Newport Out and kindly welcomed us into her space. A Rhode Island native, Deanna describes herself as a "lifelong gamer." Her passion for storytelling and puzzles began in childhood, sparked by an obsession with a particular Nancy Drew game that became her escape.

That love for immersive storytelling is clear the moment you step into her space. Bold cobalt blue wallpaper and steampunk-style decor set the scene—it feels just as curated as one of the Newport Mansions, TBH! Every detail, from the intricately designed puzzles to the curated faux-antiques, has been thoughtfully executed to put guests in the headspace of an escape room.
Our friend AJ recently went to Paradigm for a friend’s birthday and texted us after saying, “I've done a few escape rooms before that didn’t quite hit the mark, but Paradigm really nailed every detail. The group I went with got so into it—10/10.” (AJ Pisano)
At Paradigm, you and your friends step into an immersive escape room experience that challenges your problem-solving skills while offering a much-needed break from the bar scene of Newport. Beyond the fun, choosing Paradigm means supporting a local, women-owned, LGBTQ+-owned business. Whether you're planning a unique date night, a group outing, or just looking for a different way to spend an evening, this is an experience worth booking!

Pro tip: Reservations fill up fast, so be sure to book ahead. We recommend the Da Vinci Test escape room! Learn more and plan your escape at Paradigm Escape Room.
